Letters and drawings, ca. 1853-1863.

Ward's letters (mostly undated) are to various correspondents, inc. Copley Fielding, Abraham Cooper, David Roberts, Edward William Cooke, George Augustus Sala and Samuel Carter Hall, mostly regarding commissions, sales of his paintings, and reviews of his work and that of his wife, Henrietta Mary Ada Ward. Three personal letters from his wife are also included. With some mention of contemporary British artists, including Charles Bell Birch and Marcus Stone. Also included in the collection are three pen & ink drawings (1863), two of which are of figures in historical costume, and one of a mother and child.
